Our Program
What We Do
Champion Cheer Athletics provides recreational and competitive athletic training for anyone interested in learning and accelerating in cheerleading.
Our objective is to provide each athlete with constructive and complete training in all areas of cheerleading. CCA prides itself on being an organization that holds itself to extremely high standards while maintaining good sportsmanship. We have proven that it is not only possible for class and competitive cheer to go together, it is the future.
Our History
Champion Cheer Athletics began in the summer of 2002 as a recreational cheerleading class with 9 athletes in a church gym in Mississauga. That fall, the club transitioned from a recreational class into a competitive team of 11 athletes. By the end of the 2002-2003 season the CCA Panthers had 13 co-ed team members, and placed a very respectable 3rd at The Canadian National Championships.
As cheerleading gained in popularity, so did the number of athletes in the program. A junior team was added in the 2004-2005 season requiring a move to a larger gymnasium at South Common Community Centre. That same season, the senior co-ed team, captured the National title in May 2005.
At the end of the 2004-2005 season, the program was out growing the South Common Community Centre and a need for a permanent home was evident. In September of 2005, we moved into our first permanent facility. The move allowed the addition of a youth team and a secondjunior team. That same season saw our juniors bring home the Provincial title and our Senior Coed a second Canadian National title.
By the end of the 2007-2008 season, we were out growing our gym (again!) and the need to find a new home was evident, which brings us to our current location on Coopers Ave, walking distance to the Hershey Centre. The gym has continued to grow and as the 2011-2012 season approaches, the gym will house seven teams: Mini and Sr pre-comp, Blue, Black, White, Silver and Open.
The CCA Panthers have won numerous local,
regional, provincial and national titles. In the
past few years, we have secured first place titles
in Boston, Louisville, Detroit, Kentucky,
Philadelphia and as far away as England and
Hawaii! Our 2010-2011 Elite team just returned
from Italy where they placed 1st against
numerous teams from across Europe.
Our staff is fully certified in first aid and all our
coaches possess the United States All Star
Federation credentials for the level that they
coach. Our tumbling coaches are trained
gymnastics instructors through the National
Coaching Certification Program and
Gymnastics Ontario.
